2011 IHF Men's World Championships - January 13 - 30 2011, Sweden

Towards Sweden 2011 Program
July 2010, Camp

The Australian men’s squad held its first training camp which is part of the Towards Sweden 2011 Program, during 16 – 18 July 2010 in Sydney Olympic Park and Sydney University.  

The squad was put through rigorous drills and a series of fitness tests by Coach Taip Ramadani with the assistance of Zlatan Ivankovic and Russell Garnett.

The training camp follows the announcement of the draw for the 22nd Men’s World Championship in Sweden 2011. The Swedish Handball Player of the Century, Magnus Wislander, and women’s Swedish international Johanna Ahlm (both born in Gothenburg) have drawn the lots for the four groups of the Preliminary Round.  The draw was held in the Scandinavium in Gothenburg.

Australia is in Group C and will be playing the Preliminary Round in Malmö, against the following handball nations:

Croatia, Denmark, Serbia, Romania, Algeria

The three best teams from group A and B respectively, C and D meet in the Main Round with the three other teams to play in the President’s Cup. The finals will be played in Malmö.

The Towards Sweden 2011 Program involves the men’s squad undertaking a series of training camps to be held over the next few months leading up to the world championship which will be held during 13 – 30 January 2011 in Sweden.
