Mini handball

The game

Mini handball is simply the best ways to develop a child's natural motor skills, balance and coordination.

The game is a very easy to learn because it only requires natural skills:

  • Running
  • Jumping
  • Catching
  • Throwing
  • Balance

What makes the sport especially fun for children is that it is relatively easy for children to experience success, through scoring goals, saving shots or just making a good pass.

Most importantly, the game makes it very easy for everyone in the team to contribute equally and have fun.

The key principles of mini handball

Learning through games: Use the game to develop a child’s motor skills, coordination, balance and ability to work in teams. The game experience should be placed above results or scores.

Safety and fun: Provide a safe environment where children are encouraged to learn the game, make friends and have fun. The purpose of matches should be to allow children to test their skills but fair play should be valued above results. There is no scorekeeping in mini handball as it is not important who wins or loses.

Motivate children: Most likely this is a child’s first encounter with sport. It’s very important for parents and coaches to create a positive sports environment where children can make friends and have fun. The objective is to teach children to love physical activity and motivate them to continue sport as they grow up.
